Today’s News

Sorry about the inactivity. First, a little news. The Sharks have signed a new assistant coach; it essentially took the form of a lopsided trade in which we sent Richards over to the Wild and acquired Shaw (doesn’t seem fair. Shouldn’t we get a pick or 2?).

In other news, apparently Edmonton is backing off of Heatley (taken from Hockeybuzz). Here is a quote from the assistant GM of Edmonton on Heatley:

“I think we’ve given up hope on the Heatley scenario; but, I guess it’s not dead in the water. But, at this point, it looks like we’ll go to camp with the same team we finished with last year outside of a new goaltender….I think at this point, it’s pretty evident what’s going to happen. But, we haven’t closed the door on the whole issue yet.”

On another note, there will be a lull in updates unless anything real happens, as I am in the process of taking care of a few things including getting a second sports-related job for the Fall (and potentially third overall, pending the conclusion of my current marketing internship), making arrangements for my drive to St. Louis, and performing an analyses on key players on the Stanley Cup winning teams of the last fifteen years to compare to DW’s current method of acquiring talent (thanks SJeasy for a great idea). Should be done by next weekend. All other projects on the post below have been put on a very temporary hold, and will resume once I have written up these findings.

And I’ll leave you with a little compilation I stumbled across on YouTube. Remember how good Marleau was/is and stop calling for him to be traded. He has unarguably contributed to the success of this team, and if it happens so be it. But until then, appreciate all he has done for the program.
